Job Summary:
JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the full-time Mgr, Research Programs will be responsible for operational project management of at least one multi-site NIH-funded clinical trial. The study examines social determinants of risk associated with disparities in access to liver transplantation and liver donation for Black transplant patients and living donors.
Candidates ideally have experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. They should also have the ability to adapt communication style to multiple cultural environments. Candidates should have an understanding of the issues of institutional and structural racism and bias and have a strong interest in incorporating the perspectives of communities of color in the analysis of the outcomes of clinical decision-making.
The Mgr, Research Programs serves as program manager for clinical research studies, including but not limited to assisting in the development of recruitment goals; supervising a team of research staff, communication of performance expectations; conducting performance evaluations; and monitors quality assurance standards, programs, and procedures within the team.
Responsibilities include: project management (e.g., managing Institutional Review Board materials and submission; establishing and managing REDCap databases, maintaining accurate research records; managing participant financial compensation, tracking participants), in-person recruitment of participants at the transplant center; obtaining informed consent; conducting surveys and interviews; reviewing medical records; data entry; qualitative data analysis; report writing and presentation preparation; and assisting the Principal Investigator.
The Mgr, Research Programs will complete all activities by strictly following Good Clinical Practices and all relevant current local, state, and federal laws, regulations, guidance, policies, and procedures developed by the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Institutional Review Board.
The applicant must have completed a bachelor's degree, preferably a master's degree, in the field of public health, multicultural studies, psychology, or a related field, and a minimum of 5 years of research experience.
