Imaging Research Tech performs MRI procedures related to research protocols (IRB approved). Ensure accuracy of data, protection of human subjects, and excellent customer service to the research community. Provide support to the Human Imaging Core by advanced knowledge of scanner operation, patches, advanced protocols and integration with PIs.

Additional Key Elements/ Responsibilities:
Independently perform MRI scans in adults, pediatrics, in participants with and without disease, syndromes, or other conditions.
Maintain accurate records of scanning procedures.
Perform all imaging procedures according to IRB approved protocols. Demonstrate advanced knowledge/understanding of the imaging instrumentation as well as human anatomy/physiology. Performs all tasks associated with the proper execution of imaging procedure in accordance with established policies and procedures
Ensure that IRB approval is in place for each study and that each study subject has been properly consented before conducting the imaging study.
Evaluate study subject's history for compatibility with imaging system to be used. Provide the study subject with age-appropriate education about the procedure.
Seek out resources to obtain necessary documentation about device safety if necessary.
Perform routine protocols in some research studies, including (but not limited to) administering IV contrast agents, pregnancy screening tests, etc.
Maintain updated knowledge of imaging technology and procedures. Continually seek to improve skills and the research imaging service provided.
Assist researchers in developing protocols if needed.
Performs visual maintenance checks on all equipment used and reports all malfunctions to appropriate personnel. Inspect area for appropriate stock (linens, medical supplies, etc.) and report inventory to appropriate personnel.
TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES:
DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT (ADVANCED): Possesses proficiency to successfully demonstrate the use of diagnostic tools in practical applications
DIAGNOSTIC TESTING (ADVANCED): Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to prepare and perform diagnostic testing.
EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE (INTERMEDIATE): Maintenance is the prevention, correction, update, repair, or modification to equipment, products, systems or other items that may need enhancement or updating, including the application of predictive techniques to help determine the condition of in-service equipment in order to predict when maintenance should be performed.
IMAGING DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION (INTERMEDIATE): Demonstrates expertise in the utilization and modification of imaging technologies and relevant concepts in physics and engineering for diverse applications
IMAGE ANALYSIS AND PROCESSING (NOVICE): Demonstrates familiarity with software packages and databases used for image analysis and processing. Able to apply image analysis programs to provide measurements of structure or physiological outputs using state-of-the-art software programs. Able to develop scripts and programs to modify image analysis software for customer applications.
