Job Summary

Manages the daily operations of the office and provides direct supervision, work assignments, and annual performance evaluations of all staff. Monitors staff performance, identifies training and continuing education opportunities and resources. Monitors compliance of the research enterprise with all policies and procedures set forth by the institution.

Job Duties

• Provide broad oversight for and maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable regulations and policies as they relate to Institutional Review Board and other regulatory agencies.
• Conducts educational training sessions for faculty, staff, and students in all areas of compliance by research compliance.
• Conduct data safety reviews by regularly evaluating a random selection of active research and teaching protocols.
• Ensures that protocols remain consistent with their original design.
• Serve as the primary reviewer for protocols to ensure accuracy, ethical congruity, compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and procedures.
• Coordinate and monitor the protocol review process and assist when necessary to ensure complete and expedient review of all protocols, making certain that all special regulatory issues have been properly addressed and requisite approvals/clearance obtained.
• Coordinate the financial conflict of interest processes such as ensuring submission of individual financial conflict of interest disclosures in accordance with institutional policy; oversight of required investigator training, completion, and necessary follow-up; review of potential conflicts and reporting to regulatory agencies.
• Develop and implement quality assessment reviews which ensures that the department is compliant with institutional and federal mandates including but not limited to record-keeping, data management, internal audit or inspection, and problem-solving plans.
• Oversee regulation of the use and disposal of bio hazardous agents and ensure that new faculty, students, and staff obtain required certifications.
• Oversee chemical safety, including training, record keeping disposal of chemical waste and chemical waste monitoring.
• Develop and maintain review process for laboratory equipment certification.
