Job Summary: We are seeking a highly organized, self-motivated individual to join a well-established cardiovascular research team. Primary job responsibilities will include formatting clinical data (medical records) into a standard profile for review by a physician panel. These documents are stored in multiple different file formats. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring completeness of case files and for organizing this data into a user friendly, standardized presentation format. These tasks will require knowledge of medical terminology, organizational skills, and robust computer skills. The Program Coordinator will work closely with the Multi-ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA) Data Coordinating Center, MESA Field Center Coordinators at six USA based Universities and the study investigators at Vanderbilt, Johns Hopkins and Houston Methodist programs.
In addition to building case files, the Program Coordinator will assist with the day-to-day management and provide direction for research projects of considerable scope and complexity. Duties will include facilitating and structuring investigator meetings, advisory board meetings and reports, as well as regulatory documentation, presentations, and manuscript submissions. These tasks will require strong communications and financial accounting skills. Minimum requirements will include proficiency in medical terminology and experience as a program coordinator; advanced computer skills are desirable. The position will be based at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. Bachelor's degree in a related field required. Ability to multi-task is critical to this role.
The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine is comprised of more than 140 faculty members dedicated to understanding, preventing, and treating cardiovascular disease.
A fundamental component of our mission is research aimed at understanding the causes of cardiovascular disease and the translation of this knowledge to improve patient care. Our faculty are recognized nationally and internationally for their work in basic, clinical, and translational investigation. Our research programs occupy more than 30,000 square feet of laboratory space on the Vanderbilt campus. Since 2013, NIH funding to the Division has increased by 2.6-fold, and overall extramural funding has increased by 70%.
